If you’re thinking boudoir photography is limited to one thing or another, you might feel hesitant to book the experience for yourself.

Maybe you think it’s only for couples.

Maybe you think you need to be a certain size, a certain age, or just generally more “photogenic.”

Maybe you’ve never done anything like this before and the thought of showing up in lingerie in front of a camera makes you want to crawl under a blanket and never come out.

Let me tell you right off the bat: boudoir is for you.

It’s for everyone.

Boudoir isn’t about fitting yourself into some tiny little box of what sexy is supposed to look like.

It’s about figuring out what sexy means to you.

It’s about celebrating your body exactly where you are, in whatever season of life you happen to be in.

And honestly? I think that’s what makes boudoir so special.

“I Thought Boudoir Was for Couples.”

It can be.

And couples boudoir sessions are stunning and so much fun.

If you feel safe, comfortable, playful, and sexy with your partner, why wouldn’t you want to celebrate that?

There’s something really special about getting to capture that connection and the way you look at each other when nobody else is around.

But boudoir is absolutely not exclusive to couples.

Walking through a divorce?

Boudoir could be the thing that makes you walk a little taller with confidence. It could remind you that you are still sexy, still stunning, still completely yourself underneath all the changes life has thrown at you.

Maybe you’ve spent years being “Mom.”

Maybe you’ve spent years being a wife.

Maybe you’ve spent years taking care of everyone else and somewhere along the way, you forgot what it felt like to take care of you.

Boudoir can be a way to reconnect with that woman.

Enjoying the season of being single?

Boudoir could show you a new way to bring love to your body. It can help you readjust your perception of self-worth and beauty and remind you that you don’t need another person to validate how incredible you are.

You can celebrate yourself simply because you exist.

Maybe you’re newly engaged and want to surprise your fiancé.

Maybe you’ve been married for 25 years and want to celebrate everything you’ve built together.

Maybe you’re turning 30, 40, 50, 60, or beyond and you want to capture this version of yourself because this is the body and life you have right now.

Or maybe there’s no big milestone at all.

Maybe you just want to do something fun.

That’s enough too.

You don’t need an excuse to celebrate yourself.

“Boudoir Is for a Certain Body Type. I’m Not Photogenic Enough.”

First and foremost, you’re gorgeous. Exactly as you are.

You do not have to be a certain weight before booking a boudoir session.

You do not have to diet beforehand.

You do not have to spend six weeks at the gym.

You do not need to lose ten pounds, gain ten pounds, get a spray tan, whiten your teeth, or somehow become a completely different person before you step in front of my camera.

And trust me, you are photogenic.

Sometimes it just takes viewing yourself through the eyes and lens of someone else to believe it.

I know most of us are our own worst critics.

You see the stretch marks, the cellulite, the scar.

The belly that doesn’t look the way it did ten years ago, the arms you wish were smaller, the wrinkles you didn’t have five years ago.

Meanwhile, I’m looking at you thinking, Oh my gosh, look at that light on her.

I’m looking at the way your shoulder curves. The way your hair falls down your back, the  way you begin to smile as you settle into the shoot, gaining confidence.

Those are the things I want to capture.

Boudoir is about romanticizing the details that make up who you are.

Highlighting angles and curves in fun lighting.

Posing and pushing your body to feel freedom in movement.

And really just letting your hair down and being so unbothered and so fully you for an hour or so.

You don’t need to know how to pose.

You don’t need to know what to do with your hands.

You don’t need to know where to look.

That’s my job.

The season of life you’re in deserves a touch of romance no matter what.

If you’re doing a couples shoot, it’s because you feel safe and sexy with your partner and that deserves to be celebrated.

If you’re reclaiming yourself after a divorce or a huge life change, cheers!

Let’s get this party started.

If you just need to get out of your head and feel sexy and learn to appreciate your body, that’s exactly what I’m here for.

Boudoir is about self-love and confidence and committing to yourself however that looks for you.

And there’s no better time than the present to start showing up for yourself.

More Than Just Photos

When you book a boudoir session, you’re not just paying for fancy photos.

You’re investing in an experience with lasting memories.

And honestly, I think that part gets overlooked sometimes.

Yes, you’re going to walk away with gorgeous images.

Yes, you’re probably going to stare at them and say, “Wait… THAT’S ME?!”

And yes, you might immediately start wondering where you can hang one because suddenly the idea of keeping all of them hidden in a drawer seems like a shame.

But the experience itself matters too.

It’s getting ready.

The music.

The hair and makeup.

The outfit you’ve been saving.

The nerves when you first walk in.

The moment you realize, “Okay… I can actually do this.”

You start laughing.

You start getting into it.

And somewhere in the middle of the session, you stop thinking about whether your stomach looks okay or whether your legs look weird and you just start having fun.

That moment is everything.

Plus, to make it an even bigger deal, turn it into a whole day!

I highly recommend you use that day to really enjoy the confidence you’ll feel after the session.

Your hair and makeup are gonna look amazing anyway, so go show it off!!

Never waste a good hair day!

Bring the outfit you bought and never wore to put on for some drinks afterwards.

Go on a nice date with your partner.

Meet your girlfriends for dinner.

Find a local hangout spot downtown.

Go shopping.

Grab a coffee.

Or honestly, go home, order takeout, put on your favorite pajamas, and admire the hell out of yourself.

There are no rules.

Whether you are doing this alone or with someone else, this time is going to feel special and exhilarating.

It’s new, it’s spicy, it’s basically a mini sexy yoga session with all the posing and sparkly bodysuits.

BUT, you’re not stressing about how you look or wondering if you’re doing anything awkward or wrong. How often does that happen when you’re getting your picture taken, right??

I am there the entire time to pose every part of you, fix every stray hair, and tell you where to look, how to hold your tongue, and what to do with your feet.

You don’t have to know what you’re doing.

You just have to show up.

Give Yourself Permission to Be Seen

I think one of the hardest things for women is allowing themselves to be seen.

Really seen.

Not just as someone’s wife.

Not just as someone’s mom.

Not just as the person who works hard, keeps the house running, remembers everyone’s appointments, answers everyone’s texts, makes the plans, handles the problems, and somehow still manages to keep everything moving.

But as a woman.

A woman with a body, with desires.

A woman who deserves to feel beautiful and is allowed to take up space.

A woman who is allowed to feel sexy without needing a reason.

That’s one of my favorite things about boudoir.

For a little while, you get to put all of that other stuff down.

You don’t have to be productive or take care of anyone.

You don’t have to worry about what everyone else needs.

You get to focus on you for a minute.

You get to walk into a room and have the entire experience be about you.

You get to wear the outfit, play with your hair, move your body, laugh.

You get to feel nervous.

You get to feel sexy.

You get to see yourself in a completely different way.

And maybe, just maybe, you leave thinking a little differently about the body you’ve spent so much time criticizing.

Step Behind The Lens

We put things off all the time.

We set high bars for ourselves and get discouraged when we miss them.

It’s time to make a change.

If you think about it, you are starting small.

You’re just getting pictures taken of yourself!

But it’s the way you take care of yourself leading up to that moment, and the way you feel after you’re done that makes this such a momentous experience.

If you leave the studio feeling lighter and refreshed as you head back to life outside, it is already worth the investment. And if you gasped when you saw your images, even better.

Step behind the lens today. Romanticize the place you’re in right now, the present is precious, capture it!
